Shell32 Errors

A kind of Windows errors, Shell32 is related to a Windows library file called shell.dll file. This file is required for Windows Shell API functions when you open web pages and other files on your computer. Several other tasks are also performed by Shell32.dll file and it enables your system to remain steady and therefore it is a significant file when it comes to smooth performance of your system.

A large number of PC users experience these problems with error messages such as “This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down”. If you click on ‘detail’, it displays "IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in SHELL32.DLL". On the other hand if you click on ‘close’ the error message turns to "There was an internal error and one of the windows you were using will be closed." Mostly deficient Search Bar value in the registry is the culprit behind this error. The error can be fixed by following the below steps:

• Type ‘Regedit’ and hit enter which will open the Registry Editor window
• Navigate to the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
• Select the Main subkey, open the file menu and click on ‘Export’ to create a backup of this key
• Go to the location where you want to export this key, make sure that the correct path is listed and provide a name for the export file. Now click on ‘save’
• Delete the Search Bar value from the Main key
