Using Google to Perform Calculations

Google is always trying to add new features to its popular search engine and out do all the other search engines. One helpful feature they added the ability to calculate mathematical equations from within the search box. Computer tips like this can help you quickly find the answers you need to common mathematical questions without having to break out the calculator. For example if you enter 80 + 20, Google will return 80 + 20 = 100. You can also perform calculations with more complex numbers as well as calculate conversions such as weight and measurements.

Let’s say you want to find out how many ounces in 14 pounds. Simply type in 14 pounds to ounces and Google will come back with 14 pounds = 224 ounces. You don’t have to phrase it exactly like that either. It is smart enough to know what you are asking for. You can also put in 14 pounds in oz and come up with the same result.

If you want to get a little bolder try something more complicated such as half of 10 kilograms in grams and you will get the answer (half 10) kilograms = 5 000 grams. Or how about square root of 27 times 8 which gets you a reply of square root(27) times 8 = 41.5692194.
